Advertisements always aim to catch people’s attention and this alleged demo commercial from Chinese automobile company Wuling Motors (五菱汽车) certainly did, thanks to it’s erotic concepts. Needless to say, they’ve since gone very viral.
Amidst the excitement however, Wuling Motors dropped a startling announcement. As it turns out, this bold and daring promotion was not actually done by them. Which, of course, beggars the question: Who’s responsible, and why?
Yesterday (16th January), a total of eight videos, allegedly advertisements for the Wuling Starlight car, were published online and gained notoriety quickly, thanks to their contents. Of the eight, two videos caught the most attention.
One featured a girl exposing her cleavage in the back of the car while licking a cake with cream dribbling down side of her mouth. Another showed two girls getting hot and sensual in the backseat, supposedly highlighting its spaciousness.
Netizens alleged the videos were leaked demo advertisements from Wuling Motors, thanks to the word “DEMO” stamped on said footage. Despite the very positive reception from netizens, Wuling Motors released a statement to deny ownership of the videos.
“The “Wuling Starlight related DEMO videos” that appeared online today are all unofficial acts,” they said, adding the videos had impacted their reputation. “We resolutely resist any form of behaviour that damages the image of our brands and products and reserve the right to pursue legal action against relevant parties.” The company added that they have since reported the case.
The statement has sent netizens into a different tizzy. Some are now wondering who is doing free advertising for Wuling Motors and why. Others claim it’s a smear campaign against Wuling, with some speculating it was done out of jealousy. One netizen even commented that the production might have been done by pros as it did not look amateurish.
Well, that’s certainly one way of getting the Wuling Starlight car noticed, we supposed. However, we sincerely hope Wuling Motors will be able to resolve the issue soon and without much fuss.
