Although people had a lot to say about the newly-opened The Exchange TRX Shopping Mall, especially after the blackout incident yesterday (Thursday, 30th November) there’s still a lot to look forward to. Earlier this year, Skechers introduced ASTRO’s Cha Eun-Woo (차은우) as their new regional brand ambassador and Malaysian fans have been looking forward to the possibility of meeting the idol.
It looks like that dream may come true soon. It was announced that the singer will be making a special appearance at The Exchange TRX early next year! However, it may not be an open event as many would hoped.
Skechers Thailand announced that they’re holding a contest for fans to meet Cha Eun-Woo at The Exchange TRX. The Meet and Greet session will be part of the grand opening ceremony of the shoe brand’s store at the luxury shopping centre that will take place on Tuesday, 9th January 2024. As for the terms and conditions of how one can enter this contest, here are the details:
- Fans must accumulate enough points to be selected as one of the Top Spenders
- Contest opens to everyone with a Thai-registered phone number
- Winners will receive a VIP zone card with return flight tickets and 2 nights of accommodation
- Start collecting balance on 1st -17th December 2023
- Results will be announced on 19th December 2023
The poster has been blowing up all over social media with many Malaysian fans being confused as to why the contest is being held for Thai fans for the chance to attend an event in Malaysia. Apart from that, fans also pointed out that Skechers is actually one of the boycotted brands because of their relations with Israel.
Skechers Malaysia has yet to address netizens’ comments regarding the contest and claims about the company’s support for Israel. Nevertheless, fans can still catch a glimpse of Cha Eun-Woo at the grand opening event next month. Perhaps the idol will consider doing an official fan meet event sometime in the future after seeing the overwhelming requests.
