Yesterday (Wednesday, 29th November), was the official grand opening day of the long-awaited Exchange TRX Shopping Mall! While many netizens were excited about a new shopping centre that’s filled with all the popular brands, many commented that the interior design isn’t all that different from other luxury malls.
Netizens also complained about the potential traffic disruptions the new mall will cause. Furthermore, it was reported earlier today (30th November) that there had been a blackout in the mall itself. Here’s what happened:
Barely two days since the opening of the new Exchange TRX Shopping Mall, and the venue has experienced its first-ever blackout. Shoppers took to social media to post that the electricity had gone out and according to one of the posts, the power outage happened at around 10am or 11am this morning.
As for what caused the sudden blackout, it was reported that there was a short circuit in the electrical wiring. Shortly after it happened, the mall’s management released a statement on Facebook to inform that only certain parts of the building were experiencing the power outage. “We would like to clarify that this is a TNB issue that is currently being dealt with. We apologise for any inconvenience or discomfort caused during this time,” they wrote.
Thankfully, the power was back up later at 12pm. The Exchange TRX released a statement on their official Facebook page to inform that the unfortunate electrical issue has been resolved and thanked everyone for their patience. However, the incident obviously did not go unnoticed as netizens all gave their thoughts online.
A few joked that the mall has overused its power from the opening day which caused the short circuit today. Others were genuinely concerned about these issues in shopping centres and even suspected sabotage. The Exchange TRX did not address these comments but thankfully there were no reports of casualties or injuries during the outage.
