We often hear stories about rude customers like the time a man tossed RM500 into hot soup to punish a waitress for getting his order wrong. There was also an incident where a customer in Ipoh told a Sabahan cafe employee to “go back to his country”.
In this recent incident, it was not the customer who was rude but the store employee. Imagine walking into a fashion brand outlet only to receive condescending looks from the staff for the way you’re dressed. That’s exactly what happened to this TikToker and her mother when they went shopping the other day.

Yesterday (Thursday, 30th November), TikToker Trisya Lee posted a video on her channel to share her recent experience of shopping at Central i-City with her mother. The public figure shared that she was helping her mother to pick out some shoes for her to wear for her meetings and they decided to enter the BONIA outlet at the shopping centre. Unfortunately, things didn’t go very well.
The content creator alleged that the staff members at BONIA were extremely rude to her mother. “As soon as my mother entered the store, they looked at her like she was some beggar on the streets!” she said. She even provided a photo of the staff on her Instagram Story. Trisya then claimed that she and her mother weren’t the only ones to have experienced this saying that her friends also had similar incidents at the specific fashion outlet.
“Are you the CEO of BONIA? Who are you to treat my mother that way? You wouldn’t have money if we didn’t buy anything from your store. I’ve worked in retail before so I know how hard it is but that’s no excuse to be rude, you don’t even have that many customers!” the influencer added. Trisya then ended her video by saying that this was the first time a retail employee had been rude to her family. The video went viral with netizens sympathising with her.
Many claimed to have had similar experiences at the BONIA outlet at Central i-City saying that the staff members at other outlets were more friendlier. Others tagged the official BONIA account in hopes that they investigate the incident as claimed by Trisya.
At the time of writing, neither BONIA Malaysia nor Central i-City have responded to the viral video but if the story is true then we hope appropriate actions will be taken. What would you have done if a store employee was rude to your loved ones?
