The Taiwanese entertainment industry mourns the passing of a beloved comedian, Sandra Chen Junfu (陈俊甫) after he passed away suddenly this morning (Monday). The comedian was 38.
The late entertainer, known more familiarly as San Zhu (山猪), reportedly died due to pneumonia and septic shock after suffering a cold. The news of his death was confirmed by his father, who said Sandra died at the hospital on the morning of 15th April, at approximately 10.58am. The comedian’s father also said the family will not hold a memorial service for him.
Sandra was notable for being a permanent cast member of the hit variety programme, ‘Crazy Show 瘋神無雙’. He’s known for his various impersonations on the show, particularly of politicians and other famous individuals. He also gained international notoriety after a video of him imitating American streamer Angrypug went viral a few years back.
As a plus-size public figure, Sandra has always been open about his health issues and his battle with systemic lupus erythematosus, or lupus. The comedian also suffered from sleep apnea, a condition that affects his breathing during sleep. During an interview with the media, his father confirmed that Sandra’s death was related to his poor health and physical condition.
Fans and fellow celebrities flood the late star’s Facebook page to mourn his death and pay their respect. Singer Suann Chen (陳思安) and television personality Rifat (吳鳳) were amongst those who commented on Sandra’s page to send their condolences. Many fans also thanked the comedian for all the laughter and joy he provided during his lifetime and hope he’ll rest in peace.
