While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, bringing race into the mix is a big no-no – which is why this viral cheese tart seller is getting the heat from netizens with her reaction to a bad review.
It all started when Jason, a food review TikToker, shared his review of the seller’s cheese tarts while at a local food festival. In his video, Jason gave the cheese tarts a rating of 3.5 out of 10 as he felt that the cheese tasted off and didn’t go well with the filling. After his review was mentioned to the cheese tart seller via a comment, the seller responded with a video sharing her opinion.

However, her video was rather petty and racist-tinged because she made a point to say that Jason isn’t well known, even mocking his popularity. While she did add that everyone has different tastes, she also said that she can’t force people with “a preference for ‘short-legged cows (pigs)’ to eat nasi lemak”. The video ended with the seller saying it’s the customer’s loss if they listen to people like Jason.
The TikToker has responded to the video, agreeing that not many people know him and that everyone has different tastes, which he respects. However, he pointed out the seller’s “short-legged cows” comment, saying that it indirectly implies that the cheese tarts are only for certain groups. The issue was also shared on Twitter, where more netizens gave their opinion of the seller’s response.

One netizen said that the seller was given an opportunity to improve their recipe but made it into an issue of race instead. Others even said the response was immature and left a bad impression on the seller. Some even slammed the cheese tart seller and other business owners who played the race card when they couldn’t accept criticism towards their businesses.
While the cheese tart seller did not directly respond to all the criticism, many netizens did point out that she has been deleting negative comments on her video. She also uploaded a short video, seemingly mocking those who called her racist for her “short-legged cow” statement.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a business owner couldn’t accept Jason’s review because he also got into some beef with influencer Jofliam for his review of the influencer’s Wagyu pizza – but what do you think about this issue?
