A few days ago, Dato’ Seri Muhammad Sanusi went viral for a certain grand-looking bungalow in Sik, Kedah. Rumours allegedly claimed that the Kedah Mentri Besar (MB) was somehow rich enough to build the grand-looking house, which apparently was a point of contention for some.
However, Dato’ Seri Muhammad Sanusi has since refuted the rumour, explaining that the bungalow did not belong to him, but his older brother, Budin. Budin himself recently explained how he got the house and was shocked to discover that people thought it cost as much as RM7 million.
A viral video, uploaded yesterday (13th July) by entrepreneur Faizal Bahasan, showed a couple of women talking with Budin about the house. The older brother of the Kedah MB explained he had purchased design of the house from a house map company. He had also denied the house being worth RM7 million. “If (they claim) the house is worth RM7 million, I would have sold it!” he exclaimed.
“Initially, the house cost RM800,000,” Budin stated. After the repairs and remodeling, Budin and his friend estimated that the house’s worth had allegedly gone up by, at most, RM1 million to RM2 million. Budin also added that he is hoping to move into the home with his wife and children, however, they have yet to furnish the house.
Dato’ Seri Muhammad Sanusi had allegedly been unhappy to discover his brother’s name being slandered after rumours abounded regarding the bungalow. “The average person in Sik knows that the house is Budin’s not Sanusi’s. As (his) younger brother, I know (that my brother has been working hard to make his family happy,” he reportedly said in a statement. Sanusi later added that Budin works as a sea diver.
The Kedah Mentri Besar called out those who started the rumours, asking why they were targeting his hard-working brother. “Is it because he is my older brother, so he can’t build a big house even though he has the money to?” he asked. Sanusi also attributed the appearance of the rumours to the upcoming State Election, claiming they were being used to damage his image.
No further statement has been given by Dato’ Seri Muhammad Sanusi regarding the matter of his brother’s bungalow. But we have to admit, at a glance, Budin’s house certain looks very grand!
