At Locahouz, they serve traditional local favourites, as well as delicious western delicacies. Every corner of this old shop-lot-turned-cafe is decorated with something fashionably old and new – so it’s definitely a great place to take some Instagram-worthy shots. Plus, it’s pet-friendly! Another hidden gem in Melaka, Birdcage Cafe rose to popularity thanks to their amazing cakes. They only welcome small groups of people, as it’s a tiny cafe situated in the bustling downtown of Malacca. It’s not guaranteed that you’ll get a spot, since the place is usually packed, especially during the weekends, so just make sure to go early, and check their Instagram page for their operating hours before you visit! If the shutter of the shop is closed, it means it’s closed, so better keep your eyes peeled for that. The menu will depend on what is available on the day, with friendly prices. Their most famous cakes include their strawberry torte, mango pavlova, scones, and their butter cake. While the place sounds quite exclusive, it’s still worth the wait. There’s a reason why people keep coming back for more!
