With Raya just around the corner, many malls, and business owners have taken the opportunity to launch and promote their Hari Raya collections and sales so that their customers can better prepare themselves for the upcoming festivity.
However, sometimes things don’t go as planned like the time this clothing store was swarmed by a sea of customers fighting over the discounted Raya items. Customers fighting over your products may be considered the best-case scenario but how would you feel if there were no customers at all?
@lylith.ku bayar mahal untuk event yang sendu macam ni, kesian lah kami vendor yang baru nak mula ni😢 Raya lagi berapa hari je ni
Business owner Nadeera Allysha recently posted a part of her recent livestream on her TikTok channel. She tearfully claimed to have been tricked by the Malaysia Grand Bazaar organisers at Lalaport Bukit Bintang City Centre after discovering that the premise is completely deprived of customers and had no sales that day.
“We paid a lot of money for a sad event like this. There are only a few days left till Raya,” she captioned the video. To prove that there was little to no one at the premise, the seller proceeded to take her viewers around the establishment to show how empty it was and how the other vendors were struggling as well. “For those who happen to be nearby, please visit our stall, please buy something, we’re stuck right now,” she begged her audience.
In a follow-up video, the TikToker claimed that there were a few vendors at the Bazaar that decided to close down due to not being able to afford the rent. The first video went viral where many sympathised with the content creator as well the other vendors. Others advised her to always crowd-check the location before setting up a stall there.
For those who may be doubtful about the situation at Malaysia Grand Bazaar, influencer Ceddy Ang backed up Nadeera’s claims by responding to the video saying that he’ll be closing down his physical Owlet store there. “For MONTHS, footfall has been soooo bad, every day our staff will report 0 sales. We will be shutting down the store at end of this month,” he tweeted.
According to the business owner, most of his company’s revenue come from online sales like Shopee.
