Who doesn’t love a good discount? Most would take the first chance they get whenever there’s a sale on certain (expensive) items. As the saying goes, “the early bird gets the worm”, right? But have you seen people literally causing absolute chaos over discounted items?
You’d think something like that has only happened during Black Friday sales in the United States but recently, all hell broke loose when customers were seen literally fighting each other over discounted Raya clothes. Here’s what happened:

This incident that took place on Saturday (1st April) was no April Fool’s joke. Twitter user @f4kr0ls00d posted a video yesterday (Sunday, 2nd March), that showed a sea of customers trampling over and wrestling each other to enter the Starvilion clothing store in Section 7, Shah Alam. All of this was apparently for discounted Raya clothes.
It was reported that the shop, which specialises in ready-to-wear Muslim fashion, has made an announcement that the first few customers will get to purchase their Raya clothes for only RM1. In the videos posted, security guards failed to control the crowd and one of them was reportedly injured in the process as he was seen being carried away to safety by a colleague.
The establishment was left in chaos after frenzied customers took whatever they could get their hands on. Some even took the opportunity to steal some items. In another video posted, security tried to calm the crowd of customers but to no avail, as many of them were still trying to enter the premise. The incident went viral all over social media with netizens condemning the customers for their animalistic behaviour.

Influencer Uci, who was involved in the Baju Raya promotion, spoke about the chaos that occurred on behalf of Starvilion. The public figure explained the promotions and giveaways in more detail to clarify any misunderstandings. He also revealed that management failed to predict the number of customers arriving and did not properly plan out the occasion.
The content creator apologised for the incident and for not making an appearance as promised. Due to the chaotic crowd, he had to prioritise his own safety. “For those who missed out, we will do another promotion, properly this time. We will announce the dates but please behave and avoid this incident from happening again,” he said.
