Famous comedian and director Stephen Chow (周星馳) has been taking the world by storm since making his Instagram debut. The Hong Kong star has since used said account to interact with fans, search for talent and much more.
Stephen may have helped plenty of actors in their careers. However, there are some who have supposedly suffered for crossing him. Take actress Eva Huang Shengyi (黄圣依) for example. Her career has supposedly taken a hard hit ever since she claimed Stephen’s agency had exploited her!
Like many others, Eva found fame after acting in Stephen Chow’s famous work “Kung Fu Hustle (功夫)”. With her performance in the film scoring her a nomination for Best Newcomer, Eva was at the top of her game. She then signed a contract with Stephen’s company as an artist in 2004.
However, in August 2005, Eva came forward with surprising news. She held a press conference, claiming Stephen’s company had “exploited” her. This then led to be publicly terminating her contract with them. Things got ugly enough that Stephen eventually took her to court and prohibited her from joining various promotional activities in Hong Kong.
Eva’s career, having already lost Stephen Chow’s ‘protection’, was further put at risk after she was suspected of having an affair with married businessman Yang Zi (杨子). Since then, her performance in most of her works have been considered mediocre. Eva has reportedly apologised to Stephen for the matter. But, it seems the famous star has supposedly refused to accept her apology, claiming he has “no time” for her.
We’re not entirely sure if Stephen will ever forgive Eva for her slight. But, we do hope they manage to come to an understanding about the issue one day!
