Legendary comedy master Stephen Chow (周星馳) may not be active anymore in the entertainment scene. But, he can easily be found on Instagram! Fans have been delighted since the Hong Kong star joined the social platform to interact with them.
Recently, Stephen announced he would be giving out Chinese New Year couplets in light of the festival. Several lucky fans would be chosen as winners. To their (and our) pleasant surprise, several local celebs managed to get their hands on the rare couplets. Even better, influencer Jenn Chia might just get a chance to meet him in person!

Earlier this week (6th February), Stephen revealed that he had a special present for his fans. “All wishes come true,” the comedy icon quoted. “To help you wishes come true, (I have) a New Year’s gift for those who are destined (to receive it).” He also uploaded a video of him writing out several couplets in calligraphy. Stephen however, did add that only 20 people would be selected for the giveaway.
Of course, plenty of people tried their luck. As it turned out, several of our own local celebs were lucky enough to get it! YouTube group Dissy, YouTubers Jeff and Inthira, internet personality Ah Lee and Chang Yong (蔡常勇) later revealed the very special package they had received. Even Malaysian-born Singaporean actor Jaspers Lai (赖宇涵) got one!

Chang Yong actually went a step further in thanking Stephen Chow. The local influencer apparently presented the calligraphed couplet in front of our iconic Twin Towers, before sticking it to his face! Internet personality Ah Lee on the other hand took the opportunity to tease the Hong Kong star.
“This looks like (he) didn’t practice brush calligraphy, and wrote it (for a special occasion) without practice,” she joked. But, Ah Lee then stated that it added a flair to his writing as well. “It (looks) sincere, (and I’m) so happy,” she said.

While Jenn Chia (aka soimjenn) didn’t receive one, she might have gotten a better deal. The popular and humorous influencer apparently left a comment on Stephen Chow’s post, saying it was her dream to meet him. “You’ve been a huge part of my life and an inspiration to a lot of videos I create. I even learnt Cantonese from watching your movies. (Mr. Chow), when can (I) meet my idol?” she wrote.
To her shock, Stephen actually responded: “Anytime. (When) will you be in Hong Kong?” Jenn immediately told Stephen she’d go next Saturday if that was fine with him. “I’ll be happy even if it’s only five minutes,” she added. Jenn later told her viewers she was willing to drop everything for the visit, if Stephen agreed to it. We’re certainly keeping our fingers crossed for her!

There’s no denying that these local influencers and celebs certainly had the stars align for them! Stephen Chow’s calligraphed couplets are certainly something to treasure for a long time. But, if Jenn manages to get five minutes and photo with him, fans will certainly be happy for her and envious as well! We sincerely hope she gets to!
