Hong Kong actor and director Stephen Chow (周星驰) has always been best known for his humorous films. Most would be familiar with his works like “Shaolin Soccer”, “Kung Fu Hustle”, “CJ7” and “The Mermaid”. However, he has faded out of the public eye in recent years. At least… until now.
Netizens were surprised to see an Instagram post under the director’s name pop up yesterday (19th October). As it turns out, the 60-year-old is now using the platform to look for talents. Needless to say, it attracted much attention, even from local internet celebs like Han Xiao Ai (韓曉噯, Michell Lim) and Chang Yong (常勇)!

The post, under the simple username stephenchow, detailed “finding bright #Web3 talent“. Stephen explained that he was looking for someone to “help (him) build a creative future“. “Talent requirements: familiar with Web3, have project management experience, smart and kind-hearted,” he added. “Please post a profile video or Web3 work and tag #CreateWIthStephen. I will pick people myself.”
Stephen also included a photo of himself scribbling on a whiteboard. Apparently, the artist was extremely keen on delving into blockchains, cryptocurrencies, and NFTs. However, many were skeptical of the post. Some wondered if Stephen was actually running the account himself, or if someone was using his name. Thankfully, Stephen’s agent confirmed that it was Stephen’s real account. But, they declined to explain why the artist was recruiting Web3 talents online.
Regardless, people have been flocking to the post, proclaiming their interest. YouTuber and influencer Chang Yong was quick to virtually raise his hand, asking, “Can I sign up?” Another local internet celeb, Xiao Ai tagged a friend instead. “Your world is here, friend,” she told them. However, other netizens stated that they hoped to see more of Stephen on the platform. Several even asked him to post daily photos.

Well, it’s good to see Stephen Chow back in the public eye again! Hopefully, he manages to find the talent he wants. In the meantime, if this interests you, why not give it a shot? Who knows, you just might be who Stephen Chow is looking for!
