Whenever an international celebrity visits Malaysia, we always love to hear what they think about our local delicacies. We can’t help but be curious to see or hear about their reactions when trying certain dishes that are unfamiliar to them. Jackson Wang recently shared what he thinks about the food he ate at a Mamak for the first time.
Prior to that, Hong Kong actress Samantha Ko also revealed her favourite Malaysian food when she visited the country. After returning to Malaysia for a holiday with his wife, you might be wondering if Hong Kong actor Ruco Chan has a favourite Malaysian dish. As it turns out, he does!

Last month, TVB actor Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) and his wife, former Miss Hong Kong Phoebe Sin (單文柔) were spotted spending time together in Penang. Apparently, the couple wasn’t just there for a fun getaway as the actor also had some business to attend to. In case you didn’t know, the 45-year-old is the brand ambassador for the Chicken Claypot House Malaysia restaurant.
While in Penang, the “Against Darkness” star shot a commercial for the restaurant. According to The Star, the Hong Kong celebrity also revealed his favourite Malaysian dish and drink! “I like Ipoh’s white coffee that comes in a plastic bag, and char kway teow the most,” he said. At least somebody agrees that Malaysia’s Char Kway Teow is the best, unlike a certain publication.
While in Malaysia, the actor very much enjoyed being a tour guide to his wife. The father-of-one took Phoebe to visit popular spots in Penang, Ipoh, and Kuala Lumpur. “I’m acting as her tour guide and introducing her to the passionate locals. We ate a lot during this trip, and we gained a few pounds,” he told Hong Kong media upon his return.
Ruco joked about how he hoped no one will think Phoebe is pregnant after eating all that yummy food. We’re glad to hear they enjoyed the food and scenery here. Maybe next time the couple can bring their daughter along for a fun family trip.
