YB Khairy Jamaluddin became a trending topic this past weekend after several posts of him making a surprise visit to Kajang Hospital, clad in casual clothing with only one officer accompanying him, went viral on social media.
The Health Minister’s unpretentious style has impressed tons of netizens with his humbleness as well as his willingness in spending his time reviewing the situation at the hospital. Among the famous names who shared their thoughts on this matter include Dato’ Fizz Fairuz and Pandelela Rinong.
The local celebrity took to his Instagram to share a screenshot of an article about KJ’s recent surprise visit from Oh My Media. “I respect @khairykj as a minister, regardless of (his) rank and position. Well done YB!” Fizz (full name Fairuz Zainal Abidin) captioned his post.
As for Pandelela, the national diver threw it back to the time during the 45-year-old politician’s stint as the Youth and Sports Minister. “I still remember YB @KhairyKJ came to the pool without any announcement or entourage. Just casually watching the diving competition from the normal spectator seat,” the Sarawakian athlete shared.
Pandelela’s revelation came in response to a social media post uploaded by Twitter user @khairul_hafidz. He tweeted, “Spotted in Hospital Kajang. This is what we call a real surprise visit. Some of the staff would surely have had their hearts ‘pop out of their chest’ seeing the minister arriving for a visit. Good job YB @Khairykj.”
The medical officer also accompanied his post with a photo of Khairy during his visit to the hospital. He could be seen wearing a dark grey hoodie, jeans, black pants and sneakers with a batik-motif face mask as he chatted with hospital staff. At the time of writing (Monday, 20th September), Khairul’s post has gained over 13k retweets online!

For those wondering, it’s understood that several photos of KJ’s recent surprise visit suddenly went viral after the Head of the Election Academy Program, Nik Aminuddin NSS shared some posts of the minister’s presence at the government health centre. According to him, KJ and his officer paid their visit without the knowledge of the hospital’s superiors.
