“I’m not looking for somebody with some superhuman gifts, just something I can turn to, somebody I can miss.”
The Chainsmokers’ latest track, which is a collaboration with Coldplay, dropped at the BRIT Awards yesterday (Wednesday, 22nd February). It was a surprise release titled “Something Just Like This”, and fans were treated to a lyric video hours later.
In September 2016, The Chainsmokers teased fans with 2 short Snapchat videos which featured Chris Martin. At that time, it was unknown if Coldplay or only Chris Martin would be participating on the song, but it was well received nevertheless.
However, the teaser was largely forgotten by the public after the DJ duo released 2 hit songs in between, “Setting Fires” and “Paris“. That was until yesterday’s unexpected track drop.
The track is a dream collaboration for fans of both groups, as it features Chris Martin’s smooth vocals complemented with The Chainsmokers’ signature beats. The lyric video is also extremely colourful, showing several crayon drawings seemingly drawn by a kid.
“Something Just Like This” will be included in The Chainsmokers’s upcoming debut album, “Memories…Do Not Open”.
