#MalaysianCabinet: Datuk Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi Named New Deputy PM In Reshuffle

Datuk Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister.

This means that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been effectively dropped as Deputy Prime Minister in the latest cabinet reshuffle unveiled by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak this afternoon.

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would also retain the home ministry portfolio.

In announcing the Cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday (28th July), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that the decision to drop Muhyiddin was a tough one but necessary so that the Cabinet was united.

Najib added that the Cabinet reshuffle was done after taking into account political considerations and the needs of his administration to ensure that it remained focused on implementing Malaysia’s development.
