The families of a Malaysian couple are desperately trying to locate them after the pair lost contact in early September. The couple from Penang, a 21-year-old man named Goh and a 23-year-old woman named Yumi, went missing after going to Bangkok earlier this month.
Goh’s cousin, ShiiYiing Tan, recently shared details about the missing couple on Facebook, providing details of the couple’s last whereabouts. According to the post, Goh is a driver who recently accepted a job opportunity to be a driver in the United Kingdom (UK) for a month. The 21-year-old boarded a flight to the UK on 4th September, with a layover in Bangkok.

Tan said Goh arrived in Bangkok on 4th September and contacted his mother the next day. His last contact was a reply to his mother’s message on 8th September. The woman said the victim rarely shared much with his family, and his mother didn’t even know Goh had a girlfriend until Yumi’s family lodged a missing person report for the couple. After the two families exchanged information, they realised Yumi never told her family she was going to the UK but said she was heading to Spain.
According to Sin Chew Daily, Yumi told her mother she boarded a flight to Bangkok on 4th September. However, Yumi later contacted a friend on 7th September to inform her that she and Goh had landed in Spain but had lost her luggage and important documents. The friend said the couple may end up stranded in the country for up to two months until they can complete their travel documents. Similar to her boyfriend, Yumi’s last contact was on 8th September.
Before losing contact, Yumi’s friend received photos and videos of the missing couple having dinner and walking around at the airport. However, their faces weren’t in the pictures and videos. As of writing, the couple are still missing, and their family members are urging anyone with information on their whereabouts to contact them immediately.

We hope that Goh and Yumi are safe wherever they are and hope they can reunite with their families as soon as possible.
