The Malaysian edition of the “Blockout 2024” list circulated online last weekend encouraging everyone to block local celebrities who have either been silent or are still associated with boycotted brands. Some of these listed celebs came forward to defend themselves while others showed support for the movement.

Some celebs have also called out their peers for their alleged hypocrisies – only voicing their solidarity with the people of Palestine after being at risk of losing their social media engagement. Actress Romana Zam Zam made a bold statement saying that she’s convinced that some of these artists are only saving their careers.

Ramona Zam Zam posted her thoughts on the Blockout list yesterday (Tuesday, 14th May) and called out the celebrities who were seen panicking or upset about the movement. “I’m loving what I’m seeing right now. Only after finding out that you were mentioned in the blockout list did you finally start posting about what’s going on. I don’t trust you. YOU’RE NOT SINCERE! YOU NEVER CARED,” she wrote.

While she did not mention any names, the actress firmly stated that she would not be fooled by anyone’s last-minute efforts as they’ve had more than enough time to use their platform as public figures to educate their followers on the ongoing bombardment in Gaza. “All you care about is money and fame. Who cares about children dying, right? Talented or not, let’s see how you go down the drain,” the 33-year-old elaborated.

The “KL Special Force” star’s criticism was not only towards local celebrities but was also extended to netizens who have been attacking them on social media. The public figure sternly reminded netizens to be more civilised when it comes to boycotting brands and celebrities and avoid causing more trouble.

After posting her statement, fans and some celebrity friends, including Ceddy Ang, Nadia Brian and Sweet Qismina, commented that they agreed with her points and thanked her for speaking out about the issue. Do you agree that certain celebrities are only thinking of themselves after being called out?
