Watches We Want: Anoma A1 Slate & G-SHOCK Int’l Women’s Day Timepiece

Sometimes, “different” can be a downside. But these two unique watches are hot, hot, hot!

From sleek and elegant to rugged and vibrant, here are two distinctive pieces that you want in your collection.

Anoma A1 Slate

The A1 is a singular wristwatch with a rounded triangular case whose debut marked the launch of the independent watch brand, Anoma.

Following the successful launch and delivery of the first series, Anoma now presents the A1 Slate, the next model in the series, with a black lacquered dial.

“Our goal was to create a design that is pure and understated, with a timeless elegance,“ Matteo Violet Vianello, Anoma’s founder and GPHG Academy member, said.

He explains that “in a world of endless colour variations, we found power in returning to black – a colour that embodies both bold presence and ultimate discretion.”

The watch face can change from a smooth glossy black to a subtle two-tone appearance thanks to the dial’s intriguing, vertically-brushed finish and black lacquered triangular patterns.

With its curved, lug-less design, the 39mm stainless steel case looks surprisingly thin on the wrist.

Its sculptural form is similar to that of the original Anoma A1 model, which was modelled after a 1950s coffee table by Charlotte Perriand.

The A1 Slate is available for pre-order now for GB£1,800 (~RM10,286) at the official Anoma website.

G-SHOCK International Women’s Day Timepiece

In keeping with its custom of celebrating International Women’s Day on 8th March, Casio G-SHOCK has revealed a limited-edition watch that is full of motivational meaning.

The GMA-P2125W-6A model for 2025 gets a lavender design and a charming hidden feature that illuminates when the backlight is turned on.

OMEGA Scrapes The Sky With The New Speedmaster Pilot

According to G-SHOCK, purple stands for dignity and justice in many cultures. The tonal purple colour scheme is used throughout, from the dial and arms to the band and bezel, and is contrasted with white and golden accents.

To commemorate the custom of presenting women with mimosas on this momentous day, G-SHOCK has also included a mimosa flower that emerges when the LED backlight is activated. The practice has a long history that dates back to the 1940s Italian women’s movement.

The well-liked analog-digital GMA-P2100 from the brand features a bio-based resin band, case, and bezel – an environmentally-friendly material designed to lessen its impact on the environment.

The watch’s water and shock-resistant features provide increased durability, and its minimalist aesthetic works well with a variety of styles.

The International Women’s Day 2025 watch is available now for RM545 at Casio’s official website.
