When it comes to cute animals, elephants probably won’t be the first that comes to mind. However, these gentle giants can be just as adorable as a little puppy or kitten, and this video proves just that. Recently, Thai netizens were cooing over this young elephant sulking because its caregiver wouldn’t feed it durian.
In the TikTok video, the elephant named Plai Dao Mongkol was sitting on the side of the road with its caregiver, believed to be waiting to offer alms to a monk. One of the things prepared for the almsgiving was durian, which could only be eaten after the almsgiving.

However, it seemed that the young elephant couldn’t stand the temptation of the durian and was sticking its trunk towards the plate of durian, hoping for a bite. When the caregiver shooed its trunk away, the elephant started “throwing a tantrum” – laying on its side while wagging its tail and kicking its legs. In the end, though, the caregiver gave in to the elephant’s craving and fed it.
The video of the elephant went viral and has amassed over six million views since its release. The childlike behaviour of the elephant captured the hearts of many netizens, all sharing their amusement in the comment section. One netizen joked that the elephant’s “tantrum” reminded them of a kindergartener’s. Another netizen commented that the elephant became 80% smaller when it sulked.
The caregivers are probably used to Plai Dao Mongkol’s antics since the young elephant is known to sulk a lot when it doesn’t get what it wants. But of course, who can resist this adorable elephant?
