A couple of years ago, netizens were astounded by the viral video of a woman changing light bulbs at the top of the Petronas Twin Towers. Thanks to technician Maya Sidek, who is dubbed the “Iron Lady”, netizens learned how the two towers stay well-lit at night.
It did leave us with one question though: How do they clean the top of such an iconic building? Do they use the same methods as the technician? Luckily, these two men showed everyone how it’s done. Watch:
Earlier this week, TikTok user Siva Kumar posted a drone footage on his channel that showcased two men, who appeared to be cleaners, climbing to the top of one of the Petronas Twin Towers. The aerial photographer explained that he spotted the workers with his drone and flew the device around the tower to capture the breathtaking moment.
The staff, wearing safety gear, were seen ascending and descending the structure, cleaning it with the equipment they carried in bags around their waists. The content creator developed a new appreciation for maintenance staff after witnessing the astonishing view. “The courage and dedication it takes to work at such an altitude is truly inspiring. Hats off to these heroes who keep our iconic skyline shining!” he wrote. The video quickly attracted the attention of netizens, now reaching over 2.6 million views.
Many were impressed by the cleaners for doing such a dangerous job, while others wondered about their salary since the staff are literally risking their lives to keep the iconic building spotless. Some commented that, due to their fear of heights, they felt lightheaded simply watching the men climb the skyscraper. The identities of the men in the viral video are currently unknown, but we hope they will soon realise that more people are starting to show greater appreciation for the maintenance staff.
