Malaysian girl group DOLLA has grown considerably and continues to thrive since their debut in 2020. This year alone, the group has achieved remarkable milestones, with their song “MWA!” reaching global success. That said, the journey has not always been easy.
Just recently, the music video for their latest single, “QUESTION”, was taken down following significant backlash from both political and religious figures, who deemed it “too inappropriate” for Malaysian audiences. Fans came to their defence when the controversy first emerged, but, sadly, that was not the only troubling news iDOLLAs had to face.

Over the weekend, DOLLA had to break the unfortunate news that their highly anticipated “GOOD GIRLS GONE BAD” concert in Kuala Lumpur had been cancelled. In a video posted on their official social media pages, the group apologised for the sudden cancellation, citing issues with permit approval. To avoid last-minute preparations and further complications, the promoter and their team ultimately decided to call off the performance.
“We understand that many of you were looking forward to the show, and so were we. We are just as disappointed as you,” they said. Nevertheless, the girls promised to hold a special meet-and-greet event on the original concert date to make up for the cancellation. In addition, they announced that they will stage another concert in KL sometime next year. Fans who have already purchased tickets will receive a refund.

Following the shocking announcement, fans expressed their disappointment and frustration on social media, though not towards DOLLA. Instead, many directed their emotions at the controversy the members recently faced, which ultimately led to them taking down the music video for their latest single, “QUESTION”. Fans defended DOLLA, suggesting that the group should go global, believing that international audiences would appreciate and support them more than local fans, citing singer-songwriter Yuna as an example.
Others argued that the cancellation may have been partly due to the recent MV controversy, suggesting that DOLLA might need to tone down their activities to avoid further backlash. Some criticised the organiser for going ahead with concert preparations without first securing permit approval. Celebrity and influencer friends all commented, showing their support for the members and expressing hope that they will come back stronger and better.
