If there’s one thing that can ruin a performance, it’s stage crashers. While it doesn’t happen often, having someone walk on the stage during a show can break a singer’s concentration. However, singer NE-YO recently showed how he handled such an issue.
A video of the singer during a performance in Japan recently went viral, depicting his reaction to a stage crasher. According to reports, the incident happened over the weekend when NE-YO was performing at the Glion Arena Kobe in Kobe, Japan. As shown in the video, the 45-year-old was performing his hit song “Because Of You” when a man suddenly danced up the stairs, walked onto the stage and stood in front of a singing NE-YO.
The R&B star and his back-up dancers appeared slightly alarmed at the sudden intrusion. However, without messing up a single lyric to his song, NE-YO grabbed the man by the neck and pushed him to the side of the stage. Security guards then quickly approached the man and escorted him off the stage. Meanwhile, NE-YO and the dancers continued to perform the rest of the song like nothing happened.
NE-YO posted about the incident through his Instagram Stories, writing, “This is what you DON’T do. I’m a gentleman, but I WILL slap the s— out of a person disrespecting my stage. And then keep the party going. Don’t try me. All love, til it’s not.” In a separate post, the singer added, “Had he ran up with love, I woulda let him rock for a minute… idiot. Don’t be this guy.” NE-YO’s rep has yet to comment on the incident.
However, fans and netizens have reacted to the viral moment, mostly amused by NE-YO’s quick response to the stage crasher. Others began joking about the incident and making memes from the singer’s face when the man appeared in front of him. At the same time, some netizens criticised the security guards, saying they should’ve reprimanded the man before he got on the stage.
