As if going through a very public divorce wasn’t challenging enough, actress-singer Fazura is now facing significant criticism for her live vocals. Earlier this week, the local celeb appeared as a guest on SEA Today News in Indonesia, where she performed her latest single, “Bertahan Demi Cinta” — a song she had previously recorded as a duet with her ex-husband, Fattah Amin.
During the broadcast, the 41-year-old sang both the female and male parts of the song in her own register, but the debut performance of the newly released track was sadly not well received by the audience. Netizens have since criticised her live vocals but thankfully for the singer, a veteran star came to her defence.

90’s singer Abby Abadi took to Instagram Stories to defend her fellow artist after netizens brutally mocked her on social media, claiming that her singing was flat and that she should have stuck to acting. The “Alpha” songstress wrote, “I think Fazura’s singing was cute. It’s not easy to sing a duet by yourself. Besides, it’s not like she’s competing or anything.” The 46-year-old added that the performer would still be paid an exceptional amount of money, regardless of how her singing was received.
In a follow-up IG story, Abby kept her thoughts more discreet by using white text on a white background, making it harder for netizens to read. It was reported that the message served as a stern reminder to those who constantly criticise others. “You have the right to have an opinion, but remember that death comes to us all. How confident are you that you will be forgiven before your time comes?,” she wrote.

During these trying times, it’s great that Fazura has her friends and peers backing her up and supporting her. Let’s hope that things will turn out for the better for the mother-of-one.
