BIGBANG’s Taeyang (태양) delivered an unforgettable performance during his concert at the Axiata Arena on Saturday (7 December). The idol performed many of his own hits, as well as those from his group, including “Stay with Me”, “1AM”, “Fantastic Baby”, and “Bad Boy”. From one icon to another, the singer surprised his Malaysian fans by singing his favourite song by a very famous Malaysian artist.
The audience screamed at the top of their lungs when the BIGBANG member performed “Antara Anyer dan Jakarta” by the legendary Dato’ Sheila Majid. The performance was so mesmerising that it even caught the attention of the Malaysian superstar herself. Here’s the story:

Not only did the Korean star sing entirely in Malay, but he also changed the lyrics from “Antara Anyer dan Jakarta” to “Antara Seoul dan Malaysia” to further connect with his adoring audience that evening. What a way to win our hearts.
The performance attracted the attention of many Malaysian netizens, with some expressing gratitude towards the “Loser” hitmaker for singing such an iconic local song during his show in Kuala Lumpur. With a tribute like that, it shouldn’t be too surprising that Sheila Majid herself caught wind of the performance and shared her thoughts as well. The songstress took to the viral Instagram post’s comment section to say, “Awesome Blossom!” to express her excitement over the K-pop idol singing her song.
She even posted about Taeyang’s tribute to her on her Instagram story earlier today (Monday, 9th December). Netizens on Twitter praised the idol for recognising one of Malaysia’s many talents and for introducing the song to his younger fans who may not have heard of it yet. Some have begun manifesting for the Korean and Malaysian artists to perform a duet together in the future.
