It’s no surprise that many of our favourite celebrities deal with health issues, typically caused by their harsh schedules. However, it’s still heartbreaking to see them in pain. Recently, Hong Kong singer Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文) candidly revealed her back injury that had her hospitalised for two weeks.
On 2nd October 2025 (Thursday), Sammi shared a post on Instagram, revealing why she hasn’t been active on social media in weeks. The singer said that she has been recuperating at home in the past few days after suffering a back injury. The singer explained that she accidentally hurt her back a few days ago while doing some exercises. Even after visiting a trauma clinic, the pain persisted, prompting her to get an MRI scan and thorough treatment.

Unfortunately, the MRI scan revealed that Sammi had two torn areas, which explained the excruciating pain. However, the singer noted there was no injury to her lumbar spine, which could’ve caused more issues. The 53-year-old also documented her hospital visit, sharing a video of a staff member pushing her in a wheelchair. Sammi said that a nurse recommended her to use a wheelchair to avoid exacerbating her injury.
Thankfully, after two weeks of rest, Sammi said her lower back is feeling much better, allowing her to resume most of her day-to-day activities and exercises. The singer also said she’ll be returning to work to prepare for her upcoming joint concert with Hins Cheung. However, she notes that she won’t overexert herself every day. Lastly, Sammi expressed gratitude for her recovery, saying she’s been trying to motivate herself to get better each day.

Many of Sammi’s fans and fellow celebrities have reacted to the post, voicing their concerns for the star and wishing her a speedy recovery. Singer Hins Cheng, who is due to perform with Sammi in November, also sent in his well-wishes, urging the star to prioritise her health. Fans also urged Sammi not to rush back into work, advising her to focus on fully recovering first before getting back on stage.
We also wish Sammi a smooth and speedy recovery. Hopefully, she’ll use this experience to be more careful in the future. Here’s the video of the star at the hospital:
