Unfortunately, many celebrities have been accused of cheating, but we rarely see proof of their infidelity. Recently, Hong Kong singer-songwriter GooChan (陈泽鸿) was exposed for cheating on his girlfriend of seven years after a social post leaked a recording of him getting caught with an 18-year-old.
According to reports, GooChan, whose real name is Anthony Chan Chak Hung, announced his breakup with Hong Kong influencer and longtime girlfriend Samatha Kwok (芷希) in February 2025. The pair never disclosed the reason for their split, but netizens suspected that it was due to infidelity. Sure enough, their suspicions were proved correct after a Threads account recently revealed proof of the singer cheating on his now ex-girlfriend.
The Threads post captioned, “Famous Hong Kong indie singer-songwriter scum GooChan Chan Chak Hung cheating on his girlfriend of seven years, caught with 18-year-old,” included a voice recording and a video. Both recordings are allegedly of the moment the musician was caught cheating. In the audio, a woman, believed to be Samatha, was heard confronting a man, allegedly GooChan, after seeing him in bed with another woman.
The short video posted was believed to have been taken by Samantha’s friend, who was also there during the confrontation. It shows GooChan knocking on a bedroom door and telling someone to come out. As GooChan and another woman, believed to be Samantha, walked into the room, the camera turned to reveal the face of GooChan’s alleged cheating partner. The Threads post has since gone viral, prompting a response from the singer.
Through his Instagram account, GooChan apologised for his cheating scandal and for betraying Samantha’s trust during their relationship. He also said he would take responsibility for the matter, announcing an indefinite hiatus from his work. He also apologised to his friends and work partners for causing them trouble. Despite his apology, many netizens slammed him for cheating and said they would no longer support his music.
While GooChan is a singer, he’s more known for writing songs for other artists, including MC Cheung Tinfu (張天賦) and Kaho Hung (洪嘉豪). Many netizens say this cheating scandal will affect his career, but what are your thoughts?
