From the start of her career, Jessi has embraced a style that many have labelled as “provocative.” Despite facing harsh comments from netizens accusing her of dressing inappropriately, Jessi has remained unfazed. In a past interview, she revealed that she has received a barrage of negative feedback, with some saying, “They say I walk around with barely any clothes on.” Yet, she continues to take pride in her fashion choices and confidently showcases her unique style.
The Korean-American singer appeared in a video on STUDIO WAFFLE, where she discussed various aspects of her career and personal life, including her fashion sense. During the interview, host Lee Yong-jin (이용진) pointed out that while Jessi enjoys showing off her body through her clothing choices, her former P NATION CEO, PSY (싸이), isn’t particularly fond of this aspect of her style. Jessi’s reaction was characteristically unbothered. “I don’t really care,” she said with a shrug, displaying her usual defiance against external judgments.
The conversation then turned to PSY’s tendency to nag her about her outfits. With her trademark sass, the singer noted that PSY himself has worn even more revealing clothing during his concerts. “In our agency, there are many people who like to expose their bodies. There’s HyunA. Then there’s DAWN. Why is he always shirtless? I see him all the time, but does he have to expose his body?” she quipped, using humour to underscore her point that PSY’s fashion choices don’t always align with his opinions about her wardrobe.
Jessi also shared some wisdom for those who struggle with insecurity about their personal style. She emphasised that everyone has their own unique style and that it is important to embrace it. “Everybody has their own style. We can’t say anything about that,” she advised, demonstrating her belief in the importance of self-expression.
