K-pop superstar G-Dragon (지드래곤) has many famous fans. However, it seems that he may have also won over the heart of Malaysia’s very own Prime Minister. After attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit last weekend, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim shared a look at the gift he received from the music icon.
If you weren’t aware, Dato’ Seri Anwar, fondly known as PMX, was in Gyeongju, Korea, over the weekend to attend the APEC Summit 2025. The event also garnered attention from K-pop fans after it was announced that G-Dragon would be performing at the gala dinner, in front of many world leaders. The K-pop star is also the summit’s ambassador, appearing in many promotional materials.

Earlier this week, Dato’ Seri Anwar went viral after sharing his fancam of G-Dragon’s performance. In the post, the Premier cheekily mentioned that many Malaysian K-pop fans have requested that he share a look at the performance. He also quipped that he posted his fancam so he won’t disappoint the fans. The video has accumulated millions of views and even received a like from G-Dragon himself.
However, the performance wasn’t the only thing that G-Dragon had prepared for the evening. According to reports, the BIGBANG leader had presented the attending world leaders a signed copy of his “Übermensch” album and his official lightstick as a gift. Dato’ Seri Anwar would later confirm this news, flexing his gifted album and lightstick on his social media channels. As expected, the post received a lot of attention from local K-pop fans.

Many jokingly envied the Prime Minister for owning an autographed album and the lightstick, noting how difficult they can be to obtain. Some also quipped that Dato’ Seri Anwar should endorse BIGBANG to hold a concert in Malaysia, even asking for multiple shows at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil. Meanwhile, some noticed that the photo had the official Prime Minister’s Office of Malaysia watermark, joking that the picture is an official government post.
Dato’ Seri Anwar and his social media team also received a lot of love for their music choice for his APEC Summit 2025 posts, which included G-Dragon’s “Home Sweet Home”. Let’s hope this is a hint that the Prime Minister will seriously consider the BIGBANG concert requests. In the meantime, check out his G-Dragon fancam below:
