Celebrities are often idolised for their beauty, confidence, and fit physiques, and there’s nothing wrong with celebrating self-improvement or a healthy transformation. But sometimes, there’s a fine line between curiosity and crossing into inappropriate territory. That line, fans say, was blurred when DOLLA’s Tabby was asked about her weight loss during a recent media interview.
What could have been an opportunity to spotlight DOLLA’s upcoming “Good Girls Gone Bad” concert instead became a discussion about the singer’s body. The clip quickly spiralled into controversy online, prompting frustration from netizens who felt the focus should have been on her talent and hard work rather than her appearance.

During the interview, a reporter asked Tabby for the tea on why she looks slimmer. In response, the singer explained that the change was due to concert preparations. “It’s for the concert, y’all, come for ‘Good Girls Gone Bad”. We’ve already started training, almost every day we dance and we’re doing so many songs, so of course my stamina has to be on top. I’m just getting ready for that,” she said. However, the journalist pressed further, asking how many kilos she had lost. The 25-year-old replied, “Quite a lot actually, maybe like 5 kilos.”
While her comments were straightforward and focused on the group’s intense rehearsal schedule, netizens criticised the media for turning the story into a headline about her body rather than highlighting the girl group’s hard work or their upcoming concert on 6th December. Many felt the focus should have been on the group’s music, choreography, and creative direction, not Tabby’s physical appearance.

Many took to Twitter to express their disappointment in local media outlets, comparing the unprofessional questions to those asked by international media when interviewing global stars. One user wrote, “They are more interested in her body instead of new music.”
The backlash reflects a growing concern among fans about how female artists are often subjected to unnecessary scrutiny regarding their looks, overshadowing their professional achievements. Fans urged local entertainment journalists to ask more thoughtful and relevant questions that celebrate artistry rather than appearance.

Let’s just hope the girls stay healthy and happy, and that the focus shifts back to what truly matters: their music and the exciting things ahead. As Tabby teased, there’s plenty to look forward to with their upcoming concert: “‘Good Girls Gone Bad’ is gonna be a totally different concept, where I think I’ve said before, we need the fans to dance with us. So this time around, our songs, our preparation, everything is for you guys to put your phones down and dance and party with us!”
