You may have experienced attending a three-to-five-day-long university orientation before, but one particular institution is well-known for taking the particular event to the next level. Whether involving a skit or having performances, MARA University of Technology (UiTM) always comes up with extraordinary orientation sessions for the new intake students.
Recently, a video of an orientation programme at UiTM Segamat went viral on social media as it involved a birthday prank. The video was recorded by an anonymous student and the incident allegedly occurred at the UiTM hall, where hundreds of students witnessed the whole prank.

According to the Twitter post, the facilitators can be seen arguing with each other during the first 46 seconds of the video. The video then cuts to a group of senior students who are seen escorting one of the facilitators towards the stage to celebrate her birthday, accompanied by the birthday melody in the background.
Netizens on various social media shared their point of view on the incident that took place at the university, claiming the facilitators were immature for holding the birthday prank. Some commented under the post, saying that the senior students should’ve just celebrated the birthday among themselves instead of conducting it in front of the new intakes, who are likely unfamiliar with the facilitators.

Other netizens also claimed they felt second-hand embarrassment from watching the video, and the skit carried out was a mere waste of time. They commented that the new students who enrolled themselves at the institution came from faraway states to gain knowledge instead of being part of an unnecessary event, and the seniors shouldn’t have included the party as a segment in the orientation.
