It’s normal for people to create entertaining content when on vacation, especially to popular destinations like Japan. However, media personality Kak KM recently drew backlash for her video at Tokyo’s iconic Shibuya Crossing.
On 8th January 2026 (Thursday), the entrepreneur and influencer, whose real name is Liana Rosli, shared a video on her social media, depicting her and her daughter at Shibuya Crossing. The mother-daughter duo appeared to be getting ready to race each other across the pedestrian crossing. They then started running as soon as the traffic lights turned green.

However, midway through the crossing, Kak KM tripped and fell, accidentally pulling her daughter with her. As the two lay on the ground, they began laughing at the situation and even started taking photos. The video ends with Kak KM and her daughter getting up before posing for another picture in the middle of the crossing.
While the video did garner some laughs from netizens, many more comments were criticising Kak KM and her daughter for their actions. Many argued that the scene could damage Malaysians’ image amongst other foreigners and the Japanese. Others lamented that such behaviour could even lead to countries imposing stricter rules against foreign tourists.

The criticism also comes as Japanese locals express increasing frustration towards foreigners, citing issues with cultural clashes and causing disturbance in public spaces. As such, many netizens argued that Kak KM’s action of running at Shibuya Crossing and lying in the middle of the road for a video is highly frowned upon in Japan.
As for her response, Kak KM doesn’t seem too bothered by the criticism and continues to share memories from Japan. Nevertheless, we urge everyone to show good manners and civilised behaviour when travelling overseas, because they will inadvertently represent their home country. What are your thoughts on this?
