Despite his efforts to help those in need, influencer Aisar Khaled does not have the best reputation in Malaysia, due to past controversies involving an iPhone giveaway and rumours surrounding his alleged RM1 million apartment. While local netizens’ opinions of him are divided, those in Indonesia appear to be huge fans of the young content creator.
In fact, his recent appearance in the neighbouring country caused quite a commotion, to the point that heavy security was required for crowd control. Here’s what happened:
For the past few weeks, Aisar Khaled has been travelling around Indonesia, particularly in Aceh, doing charity work. During his most recent appearance in the province, he was greeted by more than 20,000 fans, all of whom were in a frenzy the moment he came into view. As seen in the video below, the influencer was mobbed by screaming admirers to the point where security guards had to hold them back as he passed through.
The content creator appeared unfazed by the crazed crowd, sporting a wide smile on his face. The video then cuts to the 24-year-old sticking out of the car’s roof panel as the driver slowly drives the vehicle out of the area. After the social post went viral, his Indonesian fans welcomed him with open arms, praising him for the work that he’s been doing throughout his visit to their country.
Malaysians, however, had a different reaction to this recent event. Most were baffled by the overwhelmingly positive response to Aisar Khaled’s presence in Indonesia, while others suggested that the country should claim him as their own. Many have commended him for understanding his target audience, given that he would not receive the same treatment in his home country.
As for Aisar Khaled himself, he expressed his gratitude to his supporters on his Instagram story for welcoming him into their country. It’s not unusual for someone to seek out places where they feel more appreciated – even K-pop idols have done the same. So if Aisar feels happier where he is, perhaps it’s where he’s meant to be.
