After being with Mercedes-F1 for 12 long years, it was finally time for the world-class F1 driver Sir Lewis Hamilton to bid farewell to the company. Accumulating over 6 titles and 84 championships, he truly had a remarkable time with Mercedes.
As the superstar wraps up his final few activities before joining Ferrari, he stopped by Malaysia earlier today (Tuesday, 10th December) to say his final goodbye. Of course, he is no stranger to this country but it was ultimately heartbreaking to see him part ways with Petronas, particularly for die-hard local fans.

Lewis Hamilton began his career in 2007, joining the McLaren F1 team. After securing his first title with McLaren, he switched to Mercedes in 2013, where he stayed for 12 years, before moving to Ferrari in early 2025. Following his final race as a Mercedes driver at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he immediately travelled to Malaysia for his farewell event at the Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC.
“It’s a very emotional time; I just came from Abu Dhabi and am now straight into my farewells. I’m excited to see the Petronas team, as they’ve been my family for the past 12 years,” said the F1 driver. Netizens shared their thoughts online, expressing sorrow but continuing to support him. Some fans mentioned that they would now be following Ferrari, as they are fans of the driver rather than the team itself, and many are excited to join Lewis in the next chapter of his career.

As a sign of gratitude, Mercedes presented Hamilton with his helmet, adorned with kind messages and well wishes. We are incredibly heartbroken to part ways with Lewis Hamilton, but we wish him nothing but the best for his future! Did you have the chance to meet him at KLCC? What were your favourite moments during his time with Mercedes and Petronas?
