If you think meeting a big-time celebrity on the streets of Kuala Lumpur is difficult, then having a celebrity visit your school must be a one-in-a-million opportunity. Well, it turns out that opportunity came to the lucky students at SMK Seri Keramat as they got a visit from 7-time Formula One Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton!
This morning (15th March), Twitter user @/FazreenIdham shared a tweet that he spotted the Formula One driver at the Keramat high school. He also shared a video of Lewis Hamilton speaking with a few students at the school. Fazreen also said he briefly interacted with the racing driver but did not catch it on camera.
While it may seem random for Lewis Hamilton to be at a high school in Kuala Lumpur on a regular Friday morning, he does have an agenda there. According to Twitter user @/Ammar_2108, the 39-year-old was visiting the school for a programme endorsed by Petronas and the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team, which Lewis currently drives for.
Lewis’ appearance at the school quickly went viral, with local netizens expressing their shock at finding out the British driver is currently in town. Many were understandably confused at the randomness of it all but also said they’re envious that the students and staff of SMK Seri Keramat will get to see the racing star up close. Fans also joked that the school visit is Mercedes making the most of Lewis’ remaining time with the team before he drives for Ferrari beginning the 2025 season.
A couple of years ago, Lewis Hamilton made waves when fans saw him at a Petronas petrol station in Penchala Link. As for his current trip, we’re not sure how long Lewis Hamilton will be in KL – but we hope he has a great time here.
