Most would prefer to park a little further away than to illegally park somewhere to avoid getting into trouble. However, it’s not always the most convenient, especially when you’re in a rush. Many have gotten fined, got their car clamped or both, for illegal parking despite not blocking the road or other vehicles.
Celebrities, of course, are no exception to this rule but this local actress was very upset after her car got clamped. Here’s why she believed that the officers on duty in Taman Melawati were being biased when it came to her car:
Yesterday (Tuesday, 6th February), actress-model Lana Nordin posted on her Instagram to share her experience of being fined and clamped over a traffic violation. In her post, she accused the police officers of favouritism as she was the only one who got in trouble for illegal parking.
“I only parked there momentarily to go make a deposit at the bank and I even explained my situation but they told me that my car had to be clamped if left unattended for 1 minute. I told them that they were being biased cause it was not like my car was blocking the way. I would’ve accepted that if that was the case. It was only after I went into the bank that they decided to carry out their duty.”
The upset celeb felt that it was unfair that her car was the only one that got clamped saying, “What about those who parked in the same area longer than I have? Why were they not clamped? Is this how MPAJ do their job? You officers kept quiet pretending not to hear me when I asked you these questions! No wonder everyone lost respect for the authorities.”
As seen in the comments section, netizens were divided with some agreeing with Lana about the unfairness while others thought she should just own up to her mistakes and not complain as the officers were just doing their jobs. Some advised her to bring a friend along so they could drive her to the destination and pick her up when she’s done without worrying so much about parking.
MPAJ (Ampang Jaya Municipal Council) has yet to respond to the viral post but let’s hope that the issue will be resolved peacefully. Do you think Lana Nordin was right to be upset or should she have just kept the whole thing to herself?
