Just because something went viral, doesn’t necessarily mean they are worth the price. One way for people to determine if they should give a dish or restaurant a try is by watching food vloggers’ reviews on social media. However, some brand owners do not appreciate when a reviewer is too honest with their opinion.
Popular TikToker Scaredtodie, or simply Jason Chen, is known for giving his honest thoughts on food products. The content creator went to try a few snacks and drinks at the recent Putrajaya Culture Festival and one of them happened to be the viral Kieda Crepe House‘s durian crepe, owned by entrepreneur Khalieda Yusra.

In the video, Jason tried a number of food and beverages at the festival and gave his rating for each of them. Finally, he decided to try the entrepreneur’s dessert to see if they were worth the hype. He bought one RM15 packet that consisted of 3 flavours; Durian, Oreo, and Biscoff.
The food vlogger started off with the Biscoff and Oreo-flavoured crepes which he described the taste to be okay but not necessarily worth the price. “It cost RM5 for one piece. You can buy a stack of Oreos for just RM3-4 which is more worth it than two bites of this Oreo-flavoured one,” he said. Finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for, Jason then tried the Durian-flavoured crepe.
He described the taste to be very artificial saying, “The durian filling is overpowered by the custard that you can hardly taste the flavour. I’d rather eat a whole seed of durian this size than this Kieda crepe. I’ll give this one a 4.2 rating.” As seen in the comments below, many thanked Jason for being honest in his review as they also believed that the viral crepes were overhyped. Surprisingly, the owner herself responded to the influencer’s review.

Through her brand’s account, Khalieda said, “Thank you for reviewing my products. Yes, the durian filling in the crepe is heavily mixed with the custard as it is catered more to those who aren’t fans of durian”. It’s good that she didn’t take offence to the honest feedback as it shows her professionalism. Perhaps more business owners should follow her example.
