Malaysians have a soft spot for their feline friends, especially the beloved orange tabby cats, affectionately called “Oyen.” Their mere presence online tends to go viral among locals—even the larger Oyens with black stripes (tigers) get plenty of attention!
Recently, a TikTok video went viral showing a small kitten that accidentally wandered into the tiger’s den at Johor Zoo. The heart-stopping moment left viewers and commentators on edge, anxiously wondering what would unfold when these two very different felines came face-to-face.

In the viral video, which has garnered 1.6 million views as of writing, a lost kitten was spotted in a shallow drain inside the tiger’s den at Zoo Johor. The two resident tigers, curious about the unexpected guest, surrounded the kitten while the zoo visitors could be heard gasping and panicking for its safety.
As they say, not all superheroes wear capes—zoo staff swiftly took action to save the day. Using a water hose, the workers sprayed the tigers to distract them and move them away without making any physical contact. During the distraction, a hand, presumed to be one of the zoo workers, reached out and safely scooped the kitten to safety.
During the water spray attack, one of the tigers completely backed away, while the other seemed only briefly startled before appearing to enjoy the mini shower. The action drew reactions from the onlookers, with some amazed by the roar the tiger let out in response.

The comments from locals under the video were equally amused by the tiger’s reaction to the mini shower. Some joked that the tiger appeared more interested in enjoying its bath than in moving away. Others expressed relief that the kitten was saved in time, acknowledging that the predators could have attacked it if given the chance.
