It’s clear to see that Jackie Chan (成龙) is still Asia’s top action star! The cinema icon’s latest action flick, “The Shadow’s Edge (捕风追影)”, has been making waves lately and even hit a new milestone in Malaysia!
According to reports, the movie recently surpassed RM10 million in ticket sales in Malaysia in just 13 days since its release on 16th August 2025 (Saturday). This new accomplishment highlights the film’s success at the local box office and its popularity amongst Malaysian film buffs. Critics also dubbed the movie one of the most eye-catching Chinese-language films at the Malaysian box office this year.

“The Shadow’s Edge” tells the story of an elite surveillance unit tasked to track a crew of criminal prodigies. In the film, Jackie Chan plays a retired intelligence agent brought out of retirement to assist the surveillance unit and hunt the criminals. Besides Jackie Chan, the movie also stars cinema legend Tony Leung Ka-fai (梁家辉), Chinese actress Wendy Zhang Zifeng (张艺兴) and K-pop idol Wen Junhui (Jun/문준휘) from SEVENTEEN (세븐틴).
It’s worth noting that the success of “The Shadow’s Edge” came after Jackie’s previous films failed to reach the expected box office performance. The lacklustre sales of the actor’s recent movies also sparked debate that the “Jackie Chan era” has come to an end. However, not only did “The Shadow’s Edge” earn positive reviews, but many fans also said that Jackie Chan has regained his status as an action film superstar.

Many viewers have praised the explosive action scenes and thrilling stunts. Notably, all the stars in the movie did their own stunts, including 71-year-old Jackie Chan and 67-year-old Tony Leung. “The Shadow’s Edge” also found significant success thanks to the CARATs (SEVENTEEN fans) who wanted to see Wen Junhui on the big screen. Local SFX artist Sofyank even collaborated with the idol to promote the film.
“The Shadow’s Edge” is now in cinemas nationwide, so check out this film in a cinema near you today. In the meantime, here’s a look at the trailer and some promo reels featuring Jackie Chan, Tony Leung and Wen Junhui:
