No one likes getting teased about their weight, especially celebrities who get picked on about every detail of their appearance. Recently, Taiwanese singer Wilber Pan (潘瑋柏) took to social media to show how he truly feels about the comments about him getting chubbier – with an added comedic twist.
The 44-year-old recently became the talk of the town after photos taken at a concert showed him looking slightly rotund. However, the weight gain rumours were dismissed after another photo from the same concert showed Wilber looking normal, proving that the “fat photos” were the result of being taken from an unflattering angle. Nevertheless, the fat jokes continued, with many netizens repeatedly teasing Wilber about the photo.
While most people would’ve taken offence to the fat jokes, the singer seemed unbothered about it – enough to even joke about it himself. Recently, Wilber posted a video on Weibo, captioned “Wilber Pan’s Day”, showing his daily life. However, as his day progressed, Wilber repeatedly asked the cameraperson, “Is it thick?”, referring to the comments about his weight.
Wilber also shared another video on Instagram captioned with, “Is it thick?”. In the video, the singer-songwriter gave viewers a complete look at his face and even jawline to show that he didn’t gain the weight that netizens spoke of. Both videos were lighthearted responses to the comments about his appearance, showing how Wilber finds the situation funny.
Fans have reacted to the two videos, praising the star for how he responded to the fat jokes. Many got a good laugh from the videos, saying they’re glad that the vocalist isn’t letting the comments about his weight bring him down. Some fans also assured him that gaining weight isn’t bad, so he should ignore the malicious comments. Hilariously, some people even suggest Wilber release a song titled “Is It Thick?” perhaps to capitalise on the matter.
It’s good that Wilber isn’t taking all these fat jokes too seriously – but it’s still best if netizens could tone down the comments about celebrities’ appearances in the future.
