When we think of our beloved Korean idols, we often assume they are perfect from head to toe, with impeccable hygiene. Unfortunately, there have been rumours that one K-pop star doesn’t pass the body odour test. Thankfully, a well-known influencer has come out to set the record straight.
If you’re part of the K-pop fan community, you may have heard of the rumour that singer-actor Rain (비) has some issues with body odour. The allegations reportedly stemmed from fellow celeb and former Sechs Kies (젝스키스) member Kang Sunghoon (강성훈), who said the “Rainism” singer’s breath stinks. While the allegations were made in 2015, nearly ten years ago, the rumours stuck and continued to haunt the singer.
Recently, a TikTok influencer, Amyflamy, collaborated with Rain, making a dance cover to Megan Thee Stallion’s hit song ‘Mamushi”. The collaboration video garnered tons of support, but some netizens can’t help but ask the influencer about the singer, particularly how he smelt. In response to the questions, Amy posted a follow-up video to share her experience with the star.
Amy started her video, saying she was surprised to read the questions, even wondering where the rumours came from. She also fought back, saying, “He’s the god of K-pop. Do you really think that his hygiene is not going to be good?”. The TikToker continued to deny the rumours, saying that Rain smelt “like a prince” from the moment they met. She added that she felt the singer was one of many K-pop stars she’s met who smelt divine.
Amy also said that along with the dance cover, she also worked with Rain on an ASMR content where she had to be near the “Red Swan” actor. She said she never thought he smelt horrible, adding that his breath was minty fresh. The social media personality even admitted to becoming self-conscious when working with Rain, worrying that she was the one who smelt terrible between the two.
Towards the end of her video, Amy hopes her explanation will help end the baseless rumours. We’re glad Amy spoke up – and we’re sure Rain would be even more thankful.
