A couple of months ago, it was officially announced that NCT (엔시티) members Doyoung (도영) and Jungwoo (정우) would begin their military service this 8th December (Monday). With the day fast approaching, it’s only natural for both the idols and their fans to feel emotional as they prepare to part ways for the next year and a half.
Yesterday (Sunday, 30th November), Jungwoo held a livestream on Weverse to spend some time with fans before preparing for his enlistment. At one point during the broadcast, the idol became a little emotional after seeing what fans had prepared for him. Here’s what happened:
Jungwoo was enjoying some quality time chatting with fans on Weverse when he briefly excused himself to use the restroom. While he was away, fans flooded the livestream chat with green heart emojis and messages saying “We love you”. When he returned, he immediately noticed their gestures and was pleasantly surprised. He thanked fans for their supportive words before becoming visibly overwhelmed.
He tried to partially cover his face with his hands to hide his emotions, but to no avail, as he was clearly moved, tearing up as he continued reading the chat. The NCT member reached for a tissue to wipe his runny nose, saying, “Who’s crying…. I’m not crying…. I just have a runny nose”, before abruptly deciding to end the livestream earlier than expected, possibly not wanting fans to worry or become upset, as goodbyes are always emotional.
The heartfelt moment quickly went viral on social media, with fans expressing that they were just as emotional as Jungwoo after seeing his reactions to the warm messages. Many commented on how much they would miss the idol while he is away for his military service, while others took the opportunity to dedicate even more heartfelt messages to the singer.
It will certainly be a while before fans get to see Jungwoo and Doyoung resume their idol activities, and we’re sure the other members will miss them just as much.
