After much speculation, Winwin (윈윈) has confirmed his departure from SM Entertainment and NCT (엔시티). The singer-actor, whose real name is Dong Si Cheng (董思成), recently announced that his exclusive contract has expired, marking the end of his journey with the company and group after more than 10 years.
On 8th July 2026 (Wednesday), SM Entertainment released a statement on Winwin’s contract expiry. The company wrote in its statement, “Following careful discussions with WINWIN, we have mutually agreed to conclude his exclusive contract, effective July 9. Accordingly, WINWIN will conclude all activities as a member of NCT.”

SM Entertainment also expressed deep gratitude to the singer for his time with the company. They also noted their support as he embarks on his new journey. Winwin debuted in 2016 as a member of NCT and its sub-units, NCT U and NCT 127. He joined WayV (威神V) in 2019 and later launched his own studio in 2021 to focus on his solo activities.
Following the announcement, Winwin shared a letter through his Instagram account to thank the fans for their unwavering support throughout his career. The 29-year-old also expressed his gratitude to SM Entertainment for their guidance for the past decade, saying that the past 10 years will remain a precious memory for years to come.
Winwin is the third member of NCT to depart from SM Entertainment in 2026. Back in April, Mark (마크) and Ten (텐) announced their departure from the company, with Mark notably leaving NCT to establish his new agency. On the other hand, Ten has also established a solo agency, but will continue to participate in group activities.

Fans have reacted to the news, mostly voicing support for Winwin as he embarked on his new journey. It’s worth noting that many fans have anticipated his departure, as there were rumours that he had signed with another agency. Some also argued that leaving SM Entertainment is a better move for the singer-actor, given the direction of his career.
As one of the founding members of NCT, Winwin’s departure is understandably disappointing for long-time fans. Nevertheless, we wish him all the best in his future.
