(Video) Illegal Corn Vendor Seen Selling At KLCC Again Despite DBKL’s Warning

It’s common knowledge that any business in a public area requires a legitimate licence. Unfortunately for many of those who live and work in the city, they still come across illegal street vendors taking up public space and causing a disturbance to those around them.

TikTok user Daryl recently shared a video of a street vendor grilling and selling corn in front of the Petronas Twin Towers on a dingy stall. In his captions, the TikTok user sarcastically comments on the image the illegal vendor portrays about the iconic Kuala Lumpur landmark. However, based on the stall, it is believed that this is the same corn seller caught months ago for selling in front of Avenue K and Suria KLCC.

The corn seller is a foreign man who went viral last year after multiple TikTok videos showed him selling the snack at various locations around the Kuala Lumpur city centre. Many netizens have slammed the vendor for causing a public disturbance with his illegal business, which led to the man getting caught by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). Unfortunately, DBKL did not seem to take strict legal action against the man as he continued his business around the city, even bringing another man to help.

Many have reacted to the seller, slamming him for causing a disturbance with his stall. Many netizens also called out the authorities for their lack of action, even mocking them for being so lax. The video was also shared on Twitter by the ISU SEMASA VIRAL account, which also tagged Dr Zaliha Mustafa, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) of Malaysia, to take action against the illegal vendor.

According to a tweet by the official DBKL account, the authorities were made aware of the seller and ordered the closure of the stall. Despite that, many netizens were unsatisfied as the corn seller was a repeat offender and would most likely continue selling once the coast was clear. Many urged the authorities to continue patrolling the streets to prevent the man from selling again.

If you spot the corn seller – or other illegal street vendors – in the city centre, immediately inform local authorities to take swift action against the perpetrators.
