It’s basically common knowledge that you can’t open up a food stall or any establishment without obtaining a valid license. Earlier this year during Ramadan, several illegal vendors had their items seized by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and some of them even tried to pick a fight with the officers.
At that time, netizens applauded the officers for carrying out their duty, however, this time around, they’re asking where the officers were when this vendor was causing a nuisance in Kuala Lumpur city recently.

Recently, TikTok user @sitisarahabdullah_ posted 2 videos on her channel that showed a vendor illegally opening up a food stall around KL. The first video showed the vendor running his grilled corn business outside of an H&M outlet at Avenue K. “It’s like a night market here,” the user captioned and also tagged DBKL to inform them of this illegal activity.
The vendor can be seen fanning the smoke coming from the grilled food which caused public disturbance to passersby in the area. In another video later that day, the TikToker revealed that the vendor moved his stall to a different location, this time right in front of the entrance of Suria KLCC.
After the two videos went viral, netizens started questioning where DBKL was and why no action was taken to stop the vendor from running his business illegally and causing a nuisance to everyone around. Some even wondered why there was no auxiliary police officer telling the vendor to pack up and leave.

Thankfully, DBKL became aware of the viral videos and took action against the vendor at the location. Yesterday (Monday, 3rd July), they posted on their Facebook to confirm that the vendor was a foreigner and that they also closed down his business along with other illegal establishments around the city.
Netizens then praised the officers for closing down those unauthorised businesses. If you find any suspicious activity going on anywhere, be sure to inform local authorities so they can swiftly take action against the people involved.
