Hong Kong celebrity couple Anita Yuen (袁咏仪) and Julian Cheung (张智霖) have been happily married for over 20 years and are parents to their 18-year-old son, Morton. However, Anita once expressed how she longed for a daughter – and it seems she finally “fulfilled” her wish in Malaysia.
To recap, the Hong Kong actress is currently in Malaysia to film an upcoming Lunar New Year movie titled “Mom’s Big Secret (OMG! 阿妈有喜)”. The Chris Tong-directed flick also stars many local actors and actresses, including Chan Fong (陳峰), Tong Bingyu (童缤毓), Juztin Lan (劉界輝) and Miko Wong (黃潔琪). However, as shown in one video shared on Instagram, Anita got particularly close to one young star.
The video was posted by local influencer Elecher Lee, whose 1-year-old daughter Giovanna Jey Mu also stars in the movie. In the video, Anita was carrying the toddler in her arms with a loving look. On the other hand, baby Giovanna seemed comfortable being cuddled in the actress’ arms. Mother Elecher was also understandably excited over the sweet moment, writing through the captions, “Giovanna can brag about being hugged by a movie queen until she goes to college!”.
Last year, Anita revealed on a show that she had tried to have a daughter with her husband Julian after the birth of their son. After natural conception failed, the actress said that she moved on to artificial insemination through in vitro fertilisation, but that attempt failed as well. Anita admitted that not having a second child was one of her biggest regrets, adding she really wanted to have a daughter of her own. The 53-year-old also said that if she were to have a daughter, she would adore her very much.
Her interaction with her young co-star garnered the attention of many netizens, who can’t help but coo over the adorable moment. Many fans equated the interaction to Anita fulfilling her dream of having a daughter, pointing out how happy she looked to hold Giovanna in her arms. Others jokingly said they envy the young Malaysian for being able to be so close to a reputable actress like Anita.
We also can’t help but melt over the two co-stars’ adorable interaction. Hopefully, we’ll see more of Anita and Giovanna as they continue to film for the movie.
