Following rumours of their long-awaited comeback, K-pop sensations EXO (엑소) dropped the first teaser for the release. Released earlier today (Monday, 8th December 2025), the cinematic trailer includes callbacks to the group’s lore from their debut.
The comeback, titled “REVERXE (reverse)”, marks EXO’s first group release since 2023’s “Exist”. Previously, SM Entertainment confirmed the group is planning a comeback with their eighth full-length album in the first quarter of 2026. Ahead of the release, the group will hold a fan meeting on 13th and 14th December 2025 (Saturday and Sunday) at INSPIRE Arena in Incheon, South Korea.
Teasing their upcoming return, the group dropped a three-minute cinematic trailer. The video depicts the members, except Kai (카이), confronting a reality they perceive as a dream because of their disbelief in their own supernatural powers. The theme is a reference to EXO’s debut concept, the “Tree of Life”, in which all members of the group have their own designated superpowers, such as teleportation and water manipulation.
Along with the trailer, the group also dropped teaser photos featuring each participating member. Unfortunately, the teasers also confirmed that members Xiumin (시우민), Baekhyun (백현) and Chen (첸) won’t be participating in the upcoming comeback. Many questioned the trio’s participation when SM Entertainment first announced EXO’s return due to the ongoing legal dispute between the idols and the entertainment giant.
While EXO-Ls (EXO fans) are disappointed that CBX won’t be part of EXO’s highly anticipated comeback, many were still looking forward to the release. Many also hope that the group will embark on a world tour for the album, noting that Lay (레이) previously hinted at a performance in Malaysia. Following their fan meeting, EXO will make an appearance at the MelOn Music Awards on 20th December 2025 (Saturday).
