Having your trust broken by someone you’re close to can be infuriating and heartbreaking. Unfortunately for this business owner, she was furious and devastated after discovering that one of her staff members had been stealing money from her company.
Yesterday (Wednesday, 18th October), Puteri Kasim, founder of Jamu Puteri posted a video on Twitter of her yelling at a staff member named Ella Zaini after she was caught stealing the company’s money for her personal expenses for 3 years. Her actions have apparently caused the business owner to lose over RM174k. The entrepreneur posted more videos on TikTok to explain her situation.

Puteri revealed that she made the mistake of putting too much trust in someone to handle the company’s money. “If I was rich, I don’t care if you want to steal money from me but I’ve been financially struggling and [Ella] was also financially struggling but she had the audacity to do this to me,” said the founder. She only had the suspicion after confronting Ella’s husband (who was alleged to have been abusing his wife). The husband proved his innocence by asking Puteri where Ella got all her money as she has been spending lavishly lately.
It was then revealed that Ella was actually the one cheating on her husband with younger men and even threatened to kill herself after being caught in the act. The public figure was furious after finding out that her employee had been spending the company’s money on luxurious items and even bought herself a new house and car. “I took all that I can from her, whatever she spent using the company’s money. I even took her car that she flexed so hard to all her college boyfriends. I’ll file a police report, don’t worry and I’ll make sure she’ll pay back every cent,” she stated.

When asked about why she has never suspected where the money had gone, she clarified that she’s suffering from a long-term illness that has prevented her from going to her office, thus she put her trust in Ella to handle the business when she’s unavailable. “I do have a team, an accountant even, to help me with these things but I honestly don’t know what happened or what she did to get away with this and I was a fool for not questioning why we weren’t earning as much”.
After her posts went viral, netizens were shocked by the revelation and criticised the staff for manipulating her boss and taking advantage of her kindness. Some offered advice on what Puteri should do to prevent a similar incident from happening again.
