Whatever was posted online, stays online. Countless people’s inconsiderate, cruel, or immoral actions have been caught on camera for the whole world to see and there are always consequences, especially when the incident happens live on television.

The current Dalai Lama, a title given by the Tibetan people to the foremost spiritual leader of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, has been under fire recently after he was caught asking a young boy to ‘suck his tongue’ in public.

A video of Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th and current Dalai Lama, has been circulating on social media recently where he was seen kissing a young boy on the lips and can be heard teasing him to ‘suck his tongue’. The viral video sparked outrage among netizens with many accusing the Tibetan spiritual leader of being a pedophile after sexually assaulting a minor.

As seen in the screenshot above, an official statement was then posted on the Dalai Lama’s official Twitter account by the public figure’s representative to address the situation. In the statement, Tenzin apologised to the boy and his family as well as to the public for his words and actions during the meet-up.

“A young boy asked His Holiness, the Dalai Lama if he could give him a hug. His Holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras. He regrets the incident,” they wrote. Despite the public apology, netizens refuse to forgive the 87-year-old as they believe he actually did sexually abuse a minor, regardless of his intentions.

As for what could have compelled the spiritual leader to even stick out his tongue to the child in the first place, multiple sources wrote that sticking one’s tongue is a sign of respect or agreement in Tibetan culture. Watch the video below and let us know what you think.

Be warned, the content might be triggering:

The Dalai Lama asked a little boy to suck his tongue and not one mainstream news outlet is asking what the heck is going on here. This is pedophilic, abusive and totally sick. pic.twitter.com/n16lDgONhg
